Love Him

Today's layout is for the fun challenge at Prairie Fairy Fridays!  The challenge is to make your project with Sparkly wings!  Prairie Fairy has so many fabulous fairies that this is so fun!  I used Fairy Love for this layout.  I adjusted the colour to make it match the tone of the layout too.

Now, if you don't do any type of digital crafting, feel free to skip the rest of this.  :)

I've been taking digital scrapbooking classes at Jessica Sprague's Site and I've been learning so much!  This week I learned about Photoshop Actions.  So this layout uses tons of actions!  I downloaded some free actions from Pioneer Woman that are just so awesome!  For the layout, I used French Summer and French Market papers available at Jessica Sprague.  Most of the embellishments are from the Sweet Heart Collection also at Jessica Sprage.  The frame is actually kind of cool.  I took a journal box from Basic Grey's Urban Culture Collection.  I erased everything from the centre, just leaving the frame.  Then I changed the colour and added a pattern for some texture.  Then I added a border around it.  The drop shadow on that is much larger than on anything else because I really wanted it to stand out.  I really love how it turned out!!!  Of course, the challenge was to make something with sparkly wings, so I used some digital Glitter Spills.  I made sure to go in and erase any glitter that was outside of the wing or covering up some of the lines in the wing.  I think it added the perfect touch.

Christmas 2011 Layout

There's a new challenge today at Prairie Fairy Designs.  The challenge is to do something Christmas themed but to use no red of green.  The beautiful digital stamp on the right page is The Nativity by Prairie Fairy Designs.  So I put together this layout using Sweet Serenity by Cabana Girl Designs and various other elements from my Jessica Sprague classes.  The sketch is one of the two-page layouts from Sketch Support.  Isn't it great?

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 6

Okay, seriously, I think this is one of my favourite Christmas cards that I've made this year!  The cute image is Lilli Claire - Warm Wishes by Tiddly Inks.  I coloured her with Copic Markers.  This card is another of my projects inspired by Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas.  This one is inspired by Tim's Tag 6.  I painted the metal frame with craft paint and then sanded it after it dried.  I love how it turned out!  Here's a closeup:

Also, this is for the new Ways to Use It Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  The challenge this week is to use something digital.  A digital stamp, digital paper or some other digital element.  I hope you get a chance to play!

I'm also entering this card in the challenge at Inspiration Emporium.

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 5

Today, I'm going to catch up a little.  I'm getting behind on my cards inspired by Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas.  So this one's inspired by Tim's Tag 5.  I used the technique that Tim used where he put alcohol ink on some plastic (I used plastic packaging) and then stamped on it.  The stamp is from Stamper's Anonymous Urban Tapestry.  The background is from Tim Holtz's Seasonal paper pack and the greenery is from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Autumn Splendor die.  I coloured three pearls with Copic Markers for berries.

I'm entering this card in the challenge at Inspiration Emporium.

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 4

This card is inspired by Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas.  It's Tim's Tag 4 that I was trying out techniques from.  I just love this crackle technique!  I tried it out on a grungeboard butterfly from one of the grungeboard packages (I can't remember which).  I used different colours since I wasn't doing a Christmas card.  Here's a closeup of the butterfly:

I'm entering this on Tim Holtz's site as well as at the Inspiration Emporium blog.

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 3

I'm continuing on with my projects inspired by Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas!  Today's card is inspired by Tim's Tag 3.  I really didn't have the tools to do the techniques that Tim used so I decided to simply CASE his project.  I pulled out every Christmas sentiment stamp I own and stamped a collage with them.  I have no clue why the red looks pink in the photo, but it is red!  I then added some twine, ribbon and a star clip for embellishments.

I'll be entering this project in the contest on Tim's blog as well as on the Inspiration Emporium blog.

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 2

In case you missed the first Christmas Tag Post, I'm making cards inspired by techniques that Tim Holtz is using during his annual 12 Tags of Christmas!  Last year I think I only made one card based on the tags.  This year I'm trying to do something for every tag!  There's an added bonus of a prize if you link your project to that day's tag on Tim's site!  Also, you can play along with the 12 Tags of Christmas at Inspiration Emporium!

So this card is inspired by Tag #2.  I know, it looks completely different.  I really wanted to be making my own projects with just a few inspirations from each tag.  So for this, instead of a canvas reindeer, I made canvas roses.  I cut them out of MFT's Mini Rolled Roses Die and then inked the edges.  After they were rolled, I added some Crystal Stickles for some sparkle.  The third item in the flower cluster is a button from Tim Holtz Idea-ology - Accoutrements - Fanciful package.  I just LOVE it!  I wanted to incorporate the white stain from Tim's tag so I used some Symphony Tissue Tape and stained it with Picket Fence Distress Stain.  I also wanted to include the texture of burlap that Tim put on his tag.  I dyed mine green with Tattered Angels Apple Glimmer Mist.  I pulled a few of the edges off to put under the flowers and put the rest under the image.

Other notes about the card.  The image is Druscilla by Tiddly Inks and she's coloured with Copic Markers.  As a happy surprise, the challenge at the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog is to make an "Oh-la-la - Sexy Card to Warm Things Up"!  I added sparkle to her wings and to the flower in her hair.  The background paper is Basic Grey and the cardstock is Stampin' Up!

Here's a closeup of the flower cluster:

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas - Tag 1

Starting on December 1st, Tim Holtz started his 12 Tags of Christmas.  I just love learning all the new techniques!  This year, I've decided to do a card inspired by each and every tag.  They won't all necessarily be Christmas cards, but they'll be inspired by the techniques Tim uses.  As a bonus, I get to link my card to Tim Holtz's site to enter for a prize! So here is my first card inspired by Tim's First Tag.

I didn't have the pine cone die that Tim used, so I used MFT's Mini Rolled Roses Die.  I think the pine cones turned out okay.  I also used the technique that Tim used on the background.  I don't have a snowflake embossing folder so I thought this Swiss Dots Embossing Folder would be the closest thing to snow.

I'm going to enter this card in a challenge over at the Inspiration Emporium blog.  There's prizes there too!  : D

Stamps:  Snowy Wishes and Snowman by Tiddly Inks

So Happy Layout

(click on the photo to see it larger)

I'm so excited because I've actually managed to do some digital scrapbooking this week!  I'm still working through my Digi In Deeper digital scrapbooking class at Jessica Sprague.  I'm learning so much!  I've created this layout for the Sketch Challenge at Basic Grey.  Here's the sketch:

All the digital supplies are from Basic Grey's Sophie Collection, with the exception of a few brushes.  Aren't those flowers gorgeous?!  I just love them!

Sweet Birdie

There's a new challenge today at the Fairy Fun Fridays!  The challenges is to Beat the Winter Blues!  So we're making blue winter cards!   This Bo Bunny Snowfall DP has such fabulous blues and browns in it, I thought it would be perfect!  This cute snowman is called Little Birdie and is available at Prairie Fairy Designs.  I coloured him with Copic Markers and added some Crystal Stickles to the pom pom on the end of his hat.  My wonderful friend Michelle sent me the wooden snowflake.  I added some rhinestones to it to make it sparkle!  I hope you get a chance to participate in the challenge!

Okay, seriously, I am totally addicted to the adorable images found at Tiddly Inks!  This one is called Minnie's Christmas Lights.  As soon as I saw her I just had to buy her!  Isn't she so cute!!!  I coloured her with Copic Markers and added some Glossy Accents to her glasses.  The background is the faux letterpress technique, which is basically inking up an embossing folder before you emboss with it.  The sentiment is a Basic Grey sticker.  The Ways To Use It challenge at Splitcoaststampers this week is using the Faux Letterpress technique.  I'll be entering this card in Tiddly Inks Anything Goes Challenge this week too!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

"Baby, It's Cold Outside" is certainly an appropriate song for right now!  Here in the Yukon, we've had about a foot and a half of snow in the last week and it is now -25 degrees Celsius (about -13 degrees Fahrenheit)!  Bbrrrrr!!!  I thought it would make a fun challenge to use "Baby, It's Cold Outside", the song as the theme.  So that's what this week's Ways to Use It challenge at Splitcoaststampers is.  The image is Snow Friends from Prairie Fairy Designs.

This last weekend, I had the privilege to travel to Anchorage, Alaska with some friends.  On the way, we stopped in a little town called Palmer.  I got to visit this fabulous scrapbooking store called Stamp Cache.  Because of the bad weather, I only managed to get to the front door just as they were closing.  Linda, the owner, let me in to shop anyway (thank you, Linda!!!).  She has an absolutely fabulous collection there.  Plus, the amount of Tim Holtz items she has in stock is just amazing!  I bought the GORGEOUS Bo Bunny paper that I used on this card, at Linda's store.  I really should have bought more, because I really just hated cutting it up!

Glorious Fall Trees

I'm a little sad today.  This is my last post for Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog.  I've really been struggling lately to keep up with my design team work and take care of my family at the same time.  I need to cut back a little so that I can enjoy both more.  So, I wanted to go out with a bang.  I made the felt tree all by myself!  I cut a circle out of felt.  Then I hand stitched the trunk with embroidery thread.  I didn't use a pattern, I just eyeballed it.  I really love how it turned out!  The image is It's Fall by Digi My World (I just saw that they have Twilight digis!!! Oh my goodness!!) and coloured with Copic Markers (colours listed below).

Here's a closeup of the tree:

Take A Hike!

When I get the chance, I'm still creating digital layouts!  It's so fun!  I'm learning so much!  Here, I'm doing up a sketch on the Basic Grey Blog.  I had a great time making all the little tags.  I've never done anything like that before!  The supplies are all from Basic Grey's Hang 10 collection, with the exception of a few brushes.

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

No Black Lines

The challenge for the next two weeks at Fairy Fun Fridays was a difficult one for me:  No Black Lines.  The idea is to print or stamp your image at about 25% of the normal level of black that you would use.  I think the result looks cool, but I was so difficult to colour!  Anyway, it turned out alright.  I wanted to take a black marker to go over her eyes, but I was so afraid that I would mess it up that I just left it.

The cute image is Dotty by Prairie Fairy Designs.  I coloured her with Copic markers.  The trick with the no black lines is to use grey Copics.  For instance, around the nose and under the chin, I added some C2 (light grey) to accentuate the shadows and therefore shape around her face.

Stamps:  Dotty by Prairie Fairy Designs
Paper:  My Mind's Eye DP, Staples 110lb White Cardstock, SU Cardstock - Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise
Ink:  SU - Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore

I Miss You

It is time for another Splitcoaststampers challenge at the Ways To Use It forum!  This challenge this week is to use Newspaper or Newsprint.  I have to admit, I don't get the newspaper at my house so I cheated a bit.  I used a dictionary page.  I think it turned out rather well though!  I just printed the sentiment out on my computer.  The adorable image is You Are On My Mind by Tiddly Inks I find it so adorable that I bought it twice by mistake!  I should check my files before I go shopping!  I coloured the image with Copic Markers (colours listed below).
