The Creative Zone

What does your creative zone look like?  For me, I don't 'see' a card before I've made it.  I start with an image or colour scheme in mind and work from there.  It takes work.  It doesn't always come easily.  So I run through a list in my mind of different techniques, tools, or products I could use.  I start in one direction and usually go off in a different direction next.  Then suddenly, out of nowhere, the ideas just come.  I don't have to try to figure it out, it's there.  As anyone who has ever crafted with me can tell you, this is when I start to giggle.  My hands start to fly as I gather ribbons, embellishments and tools needed for where I see this going.  A swell of anticipation and excitment builds inside of me!  It's not like I see the end result, it's more like I see a clear direction with several ideas attached.  When I am in this zone, I'm enjoying crafting at it's peak.  The world disappears around me and instead of the "15 minutes" I thought I would be, I take however long it takes.  An hour, two.  Time loses all meaning.  It's a beautiful thing!  These are usually the cards I'm the most proud of.  This is when I feel like I've crafted my best.

Today's card was created in "the zone".  I distressed and stitched the edges of my designer paper.  I used a doily that I spritzed with Tattered Angels Caribbean Glimmer Mist.  I cut just the edge off of the doily and folded it up the make it look like a ruffle.  I added Turquoise Stickles to the edges of the larger butterfly.  I made the flourish with some rhinestone stickers.  The smaller butterfly is just covered in sparkles:

If you can, leave me a comment today telling me about your creative zone.  Does your creative zone look like mine?  Or is it something completely different?  Do the ideas come in your craft room?  Or while you're doing something else?  In a week, I'll chose a random comment and send you a little something to get creative with.  Please leave a comment before April 22nd for the gift!

I created this card for the iCopic DT call going on right over here:  iCopic DT Call.

I just had to leave a comment and let you know how much I LOVE your creative works! I'm lucky I have a room dedicated to my crafts so I can pull the door shut when I'm not working in there. Like you I get in a zone an lose "hours" just working/playing. Some of my favorite cards are those that I start out with one idea and usually due to a mistake I wind up with a totally different card than I imagined in my head. I can't wait to see what you have for us next week! Dee
