Welcome Home Ducklings!

This is my second post of the day so make sure you scroll down to see the latest for the Hambo Hoedown!

There's a new challenge at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge!  The challenge this time is Welcome Home!  I thought this image would be perfect!  I think this sweet little duckling image from Prairie Fairy Designs is just so adorable!  It'll be available soon!  I coloured it in with my Copic markers: (blossom & bows-YR15, Y17, R22, R20; blossom centre YR21, Y21; bill & feet-YR18, YR15, Y17' stem-YG17, YG07, YG03; ducklings-B91).  For added detail, I added a flourish with a white gel pen, and the edging is done with an SU Spiral Punch.  I found the green flower trim at the dollar store!  The sentiment was done with my labelmaker.

Here's a closeup angle of the card.  I popped out the flower and the cute little foot!

You've heard me say it before, my Copic collection is very limited.  If I include the 3 new markers that I just bought, I now have 36.  I have a lot of patterned paper that doesn't match my Copic colours.  So I blend colours until I achieve the right tone.  I've created a small tutorial to show you how I do that.  The colours I use to create the flower are YR15, Y17, R22, R20.

Step one:  Colour the tips of the flower with YR15.

Step Two:  Starting at the tips again, colour with Y17 and bring the colour a little further than the last colour.

Step Three:  With R22, colour the tips, feathering the strokes toward the middle of the petals.

Step Four: Using R20 and the same feathering strokes, finish filling in the petals.

Other challenges I'm entering this card in:
