Black & White

I made this card for this week's challenge at the Digi Design House Blog.  The challenge is to make a black and white card.  This is a HUGE challenge for me!  I love colour!  It looked so flat with a black and white image, so I did cheat a little by adding just a small amount of colour with my Copic Markers.  The papers are cool because I've never used digi papers before!  These are free on the Digi Design House website!  The image is from the set Asian Art by Digi Design House.  I added some ribbon and black pearls for accent and used Pop Up Dots to add dimension!

Rockin' the Metal!

I'm the hostess again today at the Splitcoaststampers Ways To Use It Challenge!  I do have to say, this is my absolute favourite Splitcoaststampers challenge!  There is such a variety of challenges!  So this week, the challenge is Heavy Metal!  Use metal on your project!  I figured this super-cute Rockin' Roxie image by Sassy Studio Designs was perfect!  I used a metal circle that I found in the jewellry making section at Wal-Mart.  For more metal, I added brads along the Grungeboard wing.  Then, just for fun, I glammed up her guitar with Crystal Stickles!

Please come and join us this week at the Ways To Use It Challenge!

Birthday Coasters

There's a new challenge this week at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog!!!  The challenge?  Altered Items!  Now, I have to tell you a little back story to my project today.  My 7 year old daughter loves almost everything I make.  I'll find her quietly stroking a card or gazing at an object on the wall.  When my mother buys my cards, sometimes my 7 year old cries.  Last week this happened.  When I asked her what was wrong, she said, "It's just so hard to let some of these go!"  How cute is that!  So I wanted to make her something that was just for her.  I'll never sell it or give it away, because it is just for her.  When she opened it for her birthday, she squealed!  It was by far her favourite gift!  That makes me feel so good!

Now, on to the project.  I used chipboard 4x4 coasters and linked them together using Idea-ology Jump Rings.  All of the die cuts are Grungeboard (the wings are textured Grungeboard).  The dark pink grungeboard is inked with Purely Pomegranate ink.  The turquoise grungeboard was spritzed with Caribbean Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  The green is Apple Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  My daughter is huge on glam, so I added some Doodlebug Chunky Glitter, Turquoise Stickles, Lime Green Stickles, Pearl Glimmer Mist, and Crystal Stickles over various pieces.

I'm entering this project in these challenges:
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
UnstampaBelles Challenges - Celebrations

Exciting Announcement!!!

Are you ready?

Are you sure?

I'm on the Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen Design Team!!!!!!!! Oh, that felt good! I've been holding that in for a month (it was top secret)! I cannot believe it! I've always admired the work that the ladies on the DDDT do, but never, ever thought I would be good enough to be on it myself! When I was chatting with Lydia (DDDT coordinator) on the phone about it, I was just speechless! I feel so honoured to be asked to be on this team! Now, the projects that I create for the DDDT are not going to be posted on this blog as they are exclusively for Splitcoaststampers Fan Club members. But I promise that I'll still being keeping about the same pace on this blog with everything that you are used to. If you would like to see the DDDT projects, become a Fan Club member! You won't be sorry! There are some extremely talented crafters on the team!  The projects they create are gorgeous!

I hope you all have a beautiful day!

Back to School with Kraftin' Kimmie!

Today is my second day being a Krafty Guest! I received these adorable images called Back to School Katie and Back to School Mattie to play with! I coloured them with my Copic Markers and then cut them out.  For some details, I added embossing, distressing, and some grunged ribbons (using staples to adhere them - another school supply).  My favourite part of the card is the paper lunch bag that I folded myself!  I cut a rectangle out of a real paper lunch bag and then experimented a little to make it look like a real one!

If you can, take a minute to go check out the other Krafty Girls on the Kraftin' Kimmie Blog to see more great releases!

Some Cookies?

This is another card for me as a guest designer for One Crazy Stamper.  I'm excited to be guest designing for them because I already shop there!  Lora has great prices on Copics and so many other supplies!  This image is Cookie Girl by Whiff of Joy Stamps and Iused a combination of paper piecing and Copic Markers.  I paper pieced her clothing (minus the apron) and then coloured on that patterned paper to give it more dimension.  Copics that I used:  pants-BG02, BG000; apron-YR20, Y21, Y17; shirt & shoes-R22, R20; hair-E47, E99, E97, Y21; skin-E21, E00, E000.  Can you tell I love distressing?  I really do!  I distress on so many cards!  I also added some pearls, stitching, Stickles and taffeta ribbon to create a balance between pretty and distressed.

Sunflower Summer

I believe this is currently my favourite stamp!  I just love this Sunflower by Digi Design House!  I coloured the image with Copic Markers:  petals-Y17, YR21, YR20, Y17; centre-E99, E97, E34; leaves & stem-G99, YG17, YG07, YG03, YG000.  I always colour two of the blossom so that I can cut one out and layer one on top of the other to add fullness and dimension.  I put printed acetate behind the Idea-ology Fragment (I love that look!) and added some pins.  I have this sweet eyelet lace, but it seemed a little too wide so I lined up the ribbon on top of it and stitched it into place.

There Is Sunshine!

There are two posts today so make sure you scroll down to see a fabulous layout for Prairie Fairy Designs!

I'm so very excited to announce that for July I'll be a Guest Designer at One Crazy Stamper!  I've wanted to do this for a while because, this is where I actually shop!  Lora's Copic and shipping prices are fantastic and her service fabulous!  I highly recommend this store!  This adorable image is  Crafter's Companion S.W.A.L.K. Sunshine.  I just love her!  I coloured her with my Copic Markers (hair-E47, E35, E34, E21; skin-E21, E00, E000;  green-YG17, YG07, YG03, YG000; blue-B93, B91, BG02, BG000).  There are a lot of fun details on this card.  I used some recycled platic packaging, cut out flowers with my Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals Die and then ran it through my Cuttlebug with a Tim Holtz Cracked Texture Fade.  I coloured the back with a Copic Marker so that you could see it better.  The flower is by Prima.  The sunshine looked so plain cut out as a circle so I added "rays" with some embroidery floss.
