Spring Bloom

If you are looking for my BLOG CANDY, be sure to check it out here!  It's available until March 3rd!

I have so many stamp sets in my cupboard, I decided it's time to dust some of them off!  This beautiful image is Bloomin' Beautiful by Stampin Up!  I coloured it in with my Copics (R24, R20, YG97, YG95, YG93) and sponged the edges.  The printed page in the background is a page out of a dictionary, sponged with SU's Cameo Coral ink.  For added detail, the corner is paper pierced.  I stamped the bloom a second time and cut out the front petals.  I used dimensionals to pop out the tops of the petals.  Here's a close-up:

You Mean Everything

If you are looking for my BLOG CANDY, be sure to check it out here!  It's available until March 3rd!

Today, my previously homeschooled daughters went off to public school.  I've been thinking about them a lot.  My little Emily's lip was quivering as I left her at the school today.  Can you tell I was thinking about my girls today?  This image is A Tasty Read by Elizabeth Bell Designs.  It's one of my favourites!  I coloured her in with Copic Markers (colours listed below).  I love the combination between pretty scallops and shabby distressing!

I haven't really shown you what I do with the inside of my cards.  I don't do anything fancy, but I like to give it a more finished look.  Sometimes I use a small stamp on the inside.  In this case I used a strip of the patterned paper and distressed it.  Simple, but finished!

A Tattered Tag

If you are looking for my BLOG CANDY, be sure to check it out here!  It's available until March 3rd!

I've never really made a gift tag before.  I sure had fun with this one, though!  I started off by sponging SU's Pacific Point and Wild Wasabi ink all over the tag cut from vanilla cardstock.  I stamped various images from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Urban Tapestry with SU's Wild Wasabi and Pacific Point Ink.  The bird is stamped with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Black Soot and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  I used my finger to apply some Lime Stickles to the chest of the bird.  The entire tag is spritzed with  Apple Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels.  After distressing the edges with my fingernail (my distressing tool was upstairs and I just didn't want to go get it), I ran my Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Vintage Photo around the edges.  The flowers are from Tim Holtz Sizzix Die Tattered Florals.  They are cut out with Tim Holtz Idea-ology Grungepaper.  The flowers are sponged with SU's So Saffron and Pacific Point Ink.  I put together the flourish myself.  I used 1/2 pearls and rhinestone stickers.  The ribbons and fibers are EK Success and K&Company.

I'm entering this tag in the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Make Your Own Embellishment
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Make a Tag
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Not a Card
Dutch Dare Card Challenge - Sparkle, Glitter, Bling

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Beach Themed Mini Book

If you are looking for my BLOG CANDY, be sure to check it out here!  It's available until March 3rd!

There's a new challenge over at the Hambo Hoedown!  The challenge is to create a beach themed project.  I haven't done a lot of beach themed projects, so this one took me a little while to think out.  Of course, I had this cute Pelican - digi from Hambo Stamps to work with!  I was browsing Tim Holtz' blog and he just posted this Valentine Mini Book!  What a fantastic and fun idea!  So I created my mini book using one 12x12 sheet of SU's Chocolate Chip Cardstock.  I didn't have any of Tim Holtz' fabulous Tissue Tape so I had to improvise my border.  I ended up using the Faux Leather Technique found at SCS.  It took some time to get it all to look the way I wanted it, but I'm very pleased with the results!  In my stash I found some old Creative Memories paper that looked like sand and water.  Perfect!  So I distressed the edges and inked the sides with Tim Holtz Distress Inks Vintage Photo and Broken China.  I tore a section out of a dictionary for the print (definition of sand).  The charm was found at Wal-Mart.  It was silver, which didn't look quite right to me, so I coloured it with my Copic Markers (E97, E99).  I secured it with hemp twine and my glue gun.

For the inside pages, I used more of that sand and water paper and distressed and inked all the pages.

The tags were cut out from manila folders and inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo.  Since I made this as a Valentine's present for my hubby, I filled the pages and tags with things that I love about him.

In this photo, you can see the shine from the Crackle Accents that I put on the fish (fishes?)!  This is what the book looks like closed.  I secured some hemp twine on the back page with eyelets and it loops around the front to hold the book closed.

Make sure you take a moment to visit the other members of the Hambo Stamps Design Team:  The Bacon Bits!  They've got some great cards to show you!

Copic Journal

Make sure you take a minute to check out my BLOG CANDY!  It's available until March 3rd!

Ever since I bought my first Copic Markers, I've wanted to put together a Copic Journal.  A place where I can record colour combinations I like and my thoughts on different papers.  There is just so much to learn about Copics, I want to record what I'm learning!  I also love the idea of decorating a notebook.  I've never done it before!  I found this notebook at Staples, and I liked the thick covers.  Perfect for decorating!  I used my favourite Basic Grey paper, sponging the edges with ink.  For the main decorative element, I used my Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals Die, embellishing with a Stampin' Up button.  For added detail, I used a White Gel Pen on the edges of the flowers and to make a flourish.  The matching pen was made using the SCS Tutorial - Beaded Pens.

Have a wonderful day!

Monster Eyes

I cannot stress how much I ADORE this Eye Monster - Digi from Hambo Stamps!  When I saw that this was the digi for the new challenge at Hambo Hoedown, I started thinking about all the cute, gross, adorable colours I could make him.  I printed out four or five and made each one a different colour with my Copic Markers.  This was my favourite!  The challenge this week is to use a heart somewhere on your project.  I hand cut this heart and then ran it through my Cuttlebug with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Texture Fade - Cracked.  I sponged a SU's Pumpkin Pie and Really Rust over it to give it more texture and dimension.

Be sure to take a moment to participate in this week's challenge!  You do need to use a stamp from Hambo Stamps.  If you didn't participate last week and didn't get the freebie, there are a great number of adorable stamps on the Hambo Site and there is a freebie on the bottom of this page!  Remember, all you have to do is participate in the challenge and you'll get next week's digi for free!  You don't need a blog to participate, you can just link your online gallery!

Oh Sweetheart!

I've used this Sunshine by Crafter's Companion stamp before, but I just love sweet little girl images!  They remind me so much of my three little girls!  I don't know if you've noticed, but I always colour the hair the same three blends.  This is to match my sweet daughter's hair!  My eldest daughter has golden, light brown hair with strawberry highlights, my middle daughter is a brunette with golden highlights, and my youngest is a beautiful auburn redhead!  I'm constantly trying to find the right blend to match their hair exactly!

The Copics that I used to colour the image:
Hair:  E99, E35, E34, YR21, YR20     Skin:  E21, E00, E000     Dress, Hat & Bird:  R24, R20, E97, E93, E91 (the blue wasn't teal enough, so I used an SU Blender Pen with Taken with Teal Ink over top of my Copic Colouring)     Fence:  E35, E34, E21     Flowers:  E97, YR21, Y21

Jessi's Hat

I am so sick today!  Thankfully, I've had this post sitting around just waiting to be published!

I really love this layout!  It looks so much better in person than it does online too!  I think clustering the photos together makes the layout is more unified and less cluttered.  Plus it gives you the opportunity to dress up larger spaces around the photos!  This layout has a lot of random stamping around the edges.  There's also some masking with extras of the die-cut daisies.  Adding the ribbon and the 1/2 pearls just dresses up the grunge page!

I hope you get some papercrafting in today and have a wonderful time!
Hannah

Layout Ingredients:
Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey, Making Memories
Cardstock:  Stampin' Up - Real Red
Ink:  Stampin' Up - Real Red, Ranger Distress Ink - Vintage Photo
Stamps:  Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous - Urban Tapestry
Tools:  Spellbinders - Daisy
Accessories:  Stampin' Up - Real Red Polka Dot Ribbon, Stampin' Up - 1/2 pearls

Taylor's Baby Sister

When I first looked at this Valentine Gilly by Prairie Fairy, I was going to make a card.  But as soon as I got her coloured in, a scrapbooking page came to mind.  Even though it was past my bedtime, I ran down to my craft room to start putting it together!  I've been hoarding this Fairy Flora Patterned Paper by Prima for a couple of months.  I thought it would be perfect for this sweet layout!

As I was thinking about challenges I immediately thought of challenge at Prairie Fairy Fridays.  'For a sweetheart' was easy to follow since this layout is for my daughter's scrapbook album.  The next is Moxie Fab World's Trigger Tuesday.  My main inspiration from this week was the colour!  I love those soft coral, rose and red colours!  Last (but certainly not least) is the challenge at Simon Says Stamp - Love is in the air!  This layout is all about love!

For the details. all the edges (except white) are sponged with Stampin' Up's Cameo Coral or Old Olive ink.  I used white embroidery floss to stitch along the edge of the inner square and another line just outside of it.  Gilly is coloured with Copics (colours listed below).  To add a little more interest and detail, I cut out some flourishes with my Tim Holtz Sizzix Die Elegant Flourishes and placed them around the edges of the layout.

Here's a close-up of Gilly.  My absolute favourite part of her is her cute, little, slouchy socks!  Here are the Copics I used:
Hair:  E99, E97, Y21     Skin:  E21, E00, E000, R20
Dress & Heart:  R29, R27, R24, R20     Socks:  YR21, E000
Staff:  E99, E35     Wings:  R20, E000     Glasses:  R27     Freckles:  E97

Have a wonderful day!

Hambo Stamps Super Bowl Sale!

This is a double post for today, so to see today's card, please scroll down to the next post!

I have some exciting news from Hambo Stamps!  I just thought I'd let you all know that they are having a Super Bowl Sale!  Here some of the scoop:

Because Hambo Stamps has a special fondness for PIGskin, we're celebrating Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 6) by offering 30% off ALL in-stock regular-priced stamps (rubber & digital), ribbon and cling cushion! (The discount will not apply to stamps on our "Retiring" or "Seconds" pages which are already discounted a minimum of 50%) Because of the limited quantities of some designs, all orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
PLUS - We're offering a chance to win your entire order FREE (up to $100)! When you place your order, give us your best guess as to the FINAL point total of the game -- that is, the total of points that both teams have scored, added together. If more than one person correctly guesses the exact final point total, a random draw will determine the winner of those with the correct guess. If no one correctly guesses the final point total, it will go to the CLOSEST guess -- again with a random drawing if there's more than one. Please note that while the 30% off sale runs for three entire days, only orders received prior to kick-off will be in the running for the free stamps.

Make sure you all go have a look at Hambo Stamps!

Hambo Hoedown Kickoff!

I'm so very excited!  This is the day for the kickoff of Hambo Hoedown!  A Hambo Stamp is needed to participate in the challenge, but guess what?  There is a free digi stamp right on the Hambo Hoedown site (get it fast, it's not free for very long)!  The first challenge is to make a football themed card.  Participate in the challenge and get another digi free!  What could be better than that?  Make sure you check out the details to make sure you get your digi!

So here's my card for the challenge!  I don't know if it's this way for everyone, but for me, the first project of my first design team and my inspiration was:  NOTHING!  I couldn't think of a darn thing to make!  Once I calmed down and realized that I was chosen because they like my current work, not for what I aspire to be, I was able to make something that I'm happy with.  Of course, having a cute image to work with helps a ton!  The image is Hambo's Football Girl Digi!

I coloured my Football Girl with Copics (colours listed below) and I added definition on the jersey with my Copics.  In the view below, you can see how the girl and her bear are popped out from the card.

Have a fantastic day!

Love Squirrel!

I love to give Valentine's cards to friends.  I don't always get everyone every year, but Valentine's Day to me is about love and friendship.  So while I do celebrate it with my husband, I love to make some cards for my friends too!  Remember exchanging Valentines in school?  Love it!

Today's card was so fun to make!  I love stamps from The Greeting Farm!  They are so fun to colour!  I used every Copic that I own on this card (I only own 18)!  Most of the edges are distressed and inked.  The heart in the corner was cut by hand out of Basic Grey's Olivia Patterned Paper.

The photo corner was punched out of paper from the Olivia collection.  Then I punched the same photo corner out of some acetate from some old packaging (I love recycling!).  Then I ran the acetate photo corner through my Cuttlebug using the Tim Holtz Crackle Texture Fade.  I swiped the edges of the photo corner with Stampin' Up's White Craft Ink.  It is secured to the card with some SU brads.

One of my favourite elements on the sticker page for the Olivia collection is this lacy photo frame.  I cut just one side off to use on the edge of my image.

Make sure you check out the sneak peek over at Hambo Hoedown!  The fun starts tomorrow!

I hope you love today's card as much as I do!  Have a fantastic day!
