Distressed Tulips

I just love tulips.  They are my most favourite flower!  They don't show up around here until about June, but as the weather is getting colder, I've been thinking about them.  I made these tulips by hand cutting out some petals.  I then distressed each petal (it was hard because they are so tiny!).  I really love how they turned out though!  The stems are actual machine stitching with green thread.  I distressed all the edges and added a row of buttons along the bottom.  I made this a while back so I'm not going to be able to list the supplies, but I hope you've enjoyed it anyway!

The Pink Baker

I'm truly addicted now!  I'm really loving digital scrapbooking!  After going through all of the free Basic Grey Digital Layout Classes, I decided I wanted more!  My friend Michelle told me about some great classes at JessicaSprague.com.  Right now, I'm taking Digi: In Deep - Advanced Digital Scrapbooking.  Whew!  I had NO IDEA it could be like this!  I'm having such a good time!  I was able to use my mad skills on this Design Team project for Prairie Fairy Designs!  I used the adorable Chef Gillian for this baking layout!  The new challenge today at Fairy Fun Fridays is Pink and Distressed.  I figured, nothing looks more distressed than fabulous Basic Grey Digital Paper!  I just adjusted the hue to make it look pink!

Some digital techniques that I used for the layout, is making a scalloped border along the straight edge.  I also made the scalloped border around the circle.  Then, of course, using clipping masks for the patterned paper, pictures and floss.

Supplies:
Chef Gillian by Prairie Fairy Designs
Basic Grey - Scarlett's Letter Patterns
Basic Grey - Motifica Textures
Basic Grey - Urban Couture Notes
Flowers from Shabby Princess - Promise Collection

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Digital Scrapbooking

I'm learning something new:  Digital Scrapbooking!  I've shunned the idea for a long time thinking I could never love it as much as playing with traditional supplies.  I never new how much fun it could be!  So I've started by going through these free online classes at Basic Grey.  This layout is based on Class #2.  I created it using Spontaneous Delight available for free download at Shabby Princess

Monkey Business

My good friend, Michelle is hosting a challenge today for Operation Write Home which is a wonderful organization of cardmakers who make and collect donations of handmade cards to send to troups overseas.  The troups can then use the cards to send to their families.  They particularly love birthday cards or 'miss you' cards.  What a wonderful program!  The challenge is Black & White plus a splash of colour!  I used a DDH image and digi paper to create my card.  I kept it simple so that there wouldn't be any problems for a soldier to ship it.  I hope you have a chance to participate!

Fall Fun Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to the Fall Fun Blog Hop! A group of online buddies decided the holiday weekend in the US & Canada would be a GREAT time to get inky together, and so we've put together a fall themed blog hop to inspire you as the autumn approaches. As you meet our stampy bloggers today, you may discover that some have goodies for you, so be sure and visit everyone on the list. We have hoppers from all over the globe today, and they are amazing artists.

Thanks for visiting us - grab yourself a nice fall beverage and enjoy!

Here is the full list of our blog hoppers today:

 Here's my card for today:

When I think of fall, I think of leaves.  So instead of having a huge image on my card, I thought I'd go with leaves!  I prepared the the leaves in much the same way I prepared them for this layout.  All the leaves are cut out with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Leaves Die and then run through the Tim Holtz Sizzix Cracked Texture Fade.  The cardstock is Core-dinations so I sanded it as much as I dared before a major spritzing of Tattered Angels Pearl Glimmer Mist.  There are also some canvas leaves in there.  Those I did a little differently.  I didn't emboss them, but inked them lightly with SU's Chocolate Chip Ink.  Then I spritzed them with Tattered Angels Suede Glimmer Mist.  While all of the leaves were wet, I encouraged them to curl up like real dried leaves do.  I had to curl them a few times to get them to stay.  I then finished things off with ribbons, thread and a button!

Next on the hop is the extremely talented Dina!

Supplies:
Stamps:  SU - All Holidays
Paper:  Coredinations Cardstock, TAC DP
Ink:  Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Chocolate Chip SU Ink
Accessories:  Embroidery floss, Button, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Pearl, Suede, TAC Ribbon, rhinestones
Tools:  Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals Die and Cracked Texture Fade, SU Cutter Kit
